They could always reopen the asbestos mines in quebec, pretty sure they're eco friendly and won't affect climate change.

And now the squealing has begun.......cue up the indignant union leader. The Alberta Energy sector can be gutted piecemeal and the east thoroughly enjoys it. But Bombardier soaks up billions of tax payer money, gives huge bonuses to management, and announces layoffs, and what will happen? More government money of course. What a racket.

So what are the chances of them ever paying back the money they were given?

One of the 2 subsidiaries sold was the Q400 (Dash 8 Aircraft, see Westjet Encore and Air Canada Jazz) program which was sold to Longview Aviation Capital, AKA Viking Air. This sale will create hundreds of jobs in Calgary and in Victoria (specifically Sidney, HQ of Viking.) Bombardier is well known for going through waves of hiring, lay-offs and sell-offs, especially in aviation. No surprises there.... However, I see this as a huge positive for the aviation sector in Calgary and BC.

Well same thing as Chrysler. Govt just forgave 2.2 billion in loan debt. And they say we don’t have communist govt.

yea, you are mostly right (insider here) Can't give any specific details but the umbrella will be the biggest aviation company in Canada now and hopefully will do a better job!

As for the people talking bail out, a lot of the proceeds from this sale are going to go to repaying some of those "bail outs" and bombardier needed to do this to to stay afloat and continue business focusing on it's other assets like train's and private jets.

This might actually stop them from needing future bail outs as these "non-essential" assests were money pits because basically... Quebec
