Wouldn't there be a lot of meat damage from using a bow designed for big game?(minimum 40lb.) Seems over kill, kind of like using a 30-06 for coyotes. If one can hit there mark with a sharp broad head, I can't see any issues using a 20lb. Bow. Could be wrong, but I am guessing most wounded birds are from poor shot placement or not using proper sharp broad heads.

PS. I Haven't got much bird experience.

as for doing more damage because it is more poundage don't think so just pass though easier.... haven't shoot birds either but just from shooting deer at 50 lbs 70 lbs not anymore damage but pass through easies maybe birds is different

Sorry for the derail, but i will explain this.
I usually put "deleted by cat" if I want to delete a post.
Some guys just put a period dot.
Some guys put nothing.
It doesn't matter because once you ,ake a post , if you decide to delete it, it is still part of a person's post count.
I never did give a ratt's azz about a person's post count, I'm not sure why others do.
My deleting the post had nothing to do with anything except an afterthought deciding that my answer was not worth putting on the forum.
As for a 40 pound bow, I have seen geese shot with 70 pounders and they don't mess them up to much, when I shot my geese , one was with a lighter weight bow and the other with a 59# bow.
Sharp broad heads and accurate shot placement will win the day.

I imagine its all how its done...we done it out of blinds with Flu Flus....one needs a little speed to get the Flu Flus flying with flying birds...geese are tuff so blunts etc that take game birds may not do the job...so a broadhead is commonly used...Flu Flus for safety...

Regardless of poundage I dont see that there would be any differeance in damage to meat.

Its a blast

My reply from CWS

Mr. Stratton,

The Migratory Birds Regulations allow hunting of migratory birds with long and recurve bows or with shotguns. However, the Regulations do not impose specific requirements regarding the strength of bows, or type of arrowhead/bolts used. To answer your question : "Does that authorized bow apply also to Migratory bird game?" the answer is yes.

If you have any more questions related to migratory birds hunting regulations, don't hesitate to contact us again

Canadian Wildlife Service

The "Authorised bow" is a long, recurve and compound bows

lol
