Default Hunting Questions from a newb

I live in Lethbridge and I bought a bow with the intentions of hunting big game but want to start with rabbits or something small just to practice the whole art of hunting, stalking and using my equipment in the field .I have been going to the ranges for long enough that I am ready I have been practicing on a 10" target ball from 50 ish yards with great success . I have read a couple parts of the government sites and on here and am possibly still confused! I am going up a little south of Grand Prairie with a friend moose hunting to help him and wanted to know if I need any permits or licences to carry my bow to possibly see a couple rabbits while we are out? Also what other vermin type animals if there are any that are available to be taken ?

Thanks for any help

Quick answer - No if all your hunting small game.BUT If your going out with a freind you is hunting.. No C/O will beleive your not.. Be safe and get a upland game or just a general white tail... Worth the price just for the pita factor... Oh ya bowhunting permit
Thanks Leroy

If your quarry and is rabbits and only rabbits then no permits or licenses are required.

However chances are your going to run into more grouse then you will rabbits. I highly suggest picking up your wildlife certificate, bow permit and game bird license. Plus lots of arrows topped off with small game heads such as G5 S.M.G, judo points or bludgeons.

If hunting on private land you mAy also hunt coyotes, foxes, coons, badgers, magpies and few other pests without any permits or license. If this is the case an arrow or two topped off with Broadheads would be highly suggested.

If you are going out you should read the regulations front to back. It has answers to all your questions.

Good luck on your trip.

Slower game like grouse would be easier than rabbits but you would need a permit. In terms of grouse spruce would be easiest.

Unless you had an appropriate licence for like deer I think I would not have any broadheads in quiver, rather have blunts, field points or judo points all which are appropriate for rabbits, grouse etc That way a CO would have a hard time accusing you of hunting big game ie your friends moose.
