Default Fred Bear died this day 1988

Fred Bear April 27 1902 - 1988.
Touted as the Father of modern archery, mentor to hundreds, if not thousands of archers young and old, one of the founders of the Pope and Young club, holder of many world records, ( the stone ram he arrowed stood number one for over 20 years).
Although he held hundreds of patents ( the multi fingered glove, glass recurve limbs, cams, bow quiver, etc) he never received or demanded royalties on any of them reffering to to the good of archery as opposed to the almighty buck he would have made.
he made lots , BTW!

he was responsible for me getting into archery , after seeing him arrow his Aldmralty Island Brown bear and the elephant on the American Sportsmen , circa 1966.

I was stunned the day my archery dealer told me he heard it on the radio.
I have never forgotten the difference he made in my life, truly a very great sportsman......
