Want to make a few this winter ,what have you guys made only need about 8ft platform .pictures if you got thanks.

I have several of them at my place. I buy the Blind Elevators off Amazon Or Cabelas for the platform legs and purchase the plexiglass windows direct from the plastic factory to save on cost. Don’t build the window openings to large as it will be harder to heat and less is more on windy days. Also, 3/4” plywood floor, 1/4” walls and 1/2” roof. I’ve landed on 6’x8’ as perfect for 2 hunters and gear. I can also fit myself and 2 kids in that size blind.

Great information. I have the elevators as well, just need to get time and materials out to my friend's farm to finish the job.

Do you anchor the legs (cement)? Do you have any additional supports, such as guy lines etc.?

Use 2x2’s for studs, 1/4” plywood for sheeting, and rigid foam insulation for insulation. The side with the door should be sheeted with 3/8” plywood, 3/8” plywood for flooring, and roof sheeting. Coreplas and lotsa roofing caulk for roofing.

Build it for easy disassembly(2-3 screws per joint)

4’x4’ for one person, 6x6’ for 2 persons. With a sloped 6-1/2’ to 6’ roof with 3” overhang, except the door side which gets a 6-8” overhang.

Windows should be on all sides(door side gets 2 smaller ones) I like a 10-1/2” tall by 22” wide opening(12”x24” acrylic size) vertical slide in runners made out of ripped 1/4” plywood. Have them slide down and stop just lower than flush to the sill. When you frame your sills put the 2x2 in slightly angled so water runs away from the window opening, paint your sills with that wonder goop the sell for leaks.

Insulate the floor better than your walls or roof.(between the framing under the plywood)

Carpet the floor, once done.

Run a 36” wide piece of landscape cloth around the inside over the window openings, then cut the windows openings out with a knife, the black background sure hides your moving around in the blind.

Install a vent up near the ceiling on the high wall.

The rest is just carpentry and imagination.

Eye bolts, ratchet straps, and screw in hay tarp anchors.

Weld a 9/16” ready rod coupling nut to the anchor ring, and put them in with an impact gun(requires a portable genny, or a cordless impact)

Tie masons string to the ratchet strap webbing and secure it mid span to a pounded in tent peg, as this gets rid of the wind vibration.

All of my towers sit on the ground so I can move them if required. I use 1x4s in an X pattern to brace the legs to each other, if the towers wide enough and braced properly it’s not going anywhere.

I don’t use insulation as I’ve found the extra cost doesn’t add much value when using a little buddy heater and the mice, squirrels and porkies chew the crap out of it in the off season. I also spray that Flex Seal product on my roof seams.

Dam put those beauties on skids and use them as ice shacks in the winter too aaaaaand when the mother in law shows up during the summer she has a place to stay too

There are a lot of farmyards with gas tank stands sitting around doing nothing these days - $50 should get you one. I figured if it could hold up 500 gal. of diesel it shouldn't have any trouble holding up me in my blind. Welded a nut to the end of a 3 foot piece of rebar and used 2 of them in each corner to pin the stand to the ground - that is the same system that came for holding down my tarp shelters and they are still standing. So far the blind has held up through two 100+ km/hr windstorms.

The other thing I found very nice was I installed a pedestal boat seat - 360 degrees of view with little movement.

I found a $99 office swivel chair to be really good.

Don't forget the wood stove. We have 4 box blinds. Non of them are elevated, they still work and all have built in heaters and cooking devices. Best is cooking beacon and eggs or grilled cheese and soup in the middle of the action.

Keep them coming now we're looking at doing folding half-blind that we can tow around and a permanent one let's see some more pictures and Designs got all winter to build it right
