I've been told about two different gun smiths , EM Precision out of spruce Grove & Rod Henrickson in Edmonton . Is anyone familiar with these smiths for gun work . Thanks

Many, many people are very familiar with them. What do you want?

Henry Remple, enough said. Not knocking the other guys but there’s just something unique about a machinist wizard, and his prices are insanely reasonable.

If your looking for a gunsmith to thread your barrel for a brake then id use rod.
His turn around time is a LOT faster

EM Precision is excellent. I have no hesitation recommending them.

Bedding, inletting, threading, drilling, trigger jobs, stock lengthening / shortening, and grind to fit recoil pads. I’d go straight to Rod.

I'd guess Prophet River could recommend a local.

I've got an old Model 70 with a brake installed that I'd like to remove. It came with a thread protector (second hand purchase) so it would seem that it's meant to be removed but I can't do it. Can anyone recommend someone in the Edmonton/Spruce Grove area that can do it QUICK and hopefully not too expensively? I see two names already but don't know who might be good at this task.

Before even going to a gunsmith, I would warm up the brake, and try again to remove it. Some people put loctite on them, to keep them from loosening.

I assumed that the OP would have already soaked the end of the barrel to over the threads in a good powder solvent.

Depends on what you need done. If you want a precision rifle made then go to Insite arms. If you have just general gunsmithing work needing done I'd hit up Oscar long at https://ribstonegunsmithing.ca/

Rod Who?
Some people will know the name but I'm one of many who will not...
For myself, I can recommend K&S Arms and David Henry (Bentley Ab).

He does great work. Though his turnaround time is so fast that sometimes a guy wonders how much of a gunsmith he actually is
