I fully intend to change that next year.
Sadly, I cannot make Ponoka Jack, ( Union issue)
The dilemma makes me sick, but you know full well my rank within the hall.
I do not have a choice in this matter, duty come first.
My son is travelling down with Silverado however, so hopefull he can make a decent showing in thhe irons calss and amybe make it past the second cut this year in the crow shoot!
Good luck to all that are shooting the 40th annual at Ponoka!

Now I can track anything with next to no evidence. Powerpoints killed deer bang but when in a mixed hunt I always had those silvertips. My cousin loved silvertips for big game also and he has 20 years hunting on me.

When i was a kid i took my first 3 big game animals with silvertip ammo in 30-06, two whitetail bucks and a big black bear. The bucks were both inside 100 yrds and pass throughs but the bear was about 115 yrds and quartering to me. I broke his front side shoulder went through the boiler room and we found the bullet under the hide on the opposite side back of the rib cage. I still have the bullet somewhere. Those silvertips are tough. Most of the bullet was there, nice mushroom with a few jagged spots probably from the shoulder. The bear was easy 400lbs in spring and 20 11/16" skull. I remember it being not the 150 grain so if they made a 165 it could have been that otherwise it was the 180. I believe in that ammo forsure!
