Was going to ask what mounts did you use for that 'scope' Did leupold install the reticle or did you scratch it on the glass yourself.

The most I have paid was for Leupold FX3 6x42 about 8-10 yrs ago. Are 5-6 hundred dollar scopes really that bad or will the 8-1000. dollar ones blow me away.
I as well have 60 year old eyes.
For years my go to scopes were Leupold 1.5x5, 4X, 6X 2.5x8, as I aged additional magnification made it alot easier to shoot.

My eyes really do well with Swavorski Z3 scopes, I have 2 Custom Sako in 6x45.
One has a Swaro 3x9x36 the other a Leupold VarixIII 4x12x40 . At 150 yds I can clearly see 6mm bullet holes on the target with the Swaro at 9X I have to use the Spotting scope with the other rifle as I cannot see all of the bullet holes at 12X.

I prefer the 3x9x36 on compact rifles due to it's size and weight , however the added magnificatin of the 4x12x50 is a big plus.

Your eyes may vary. I also like the Sightron S1 4x12 scopes too my eyes almost as clear as the Swarovoski Z3
