When Stiga sporterized these they removed the military barrels and replaced them with ones built by Shlutz and Larsen, (noted for building very accurate barrels). This maybe why you think It is a model 38, but it's not, I've had both.

Stigas use the military actions with the left side thumb cut for the stripper clip? Some of the commercial ones didn't.

You could be right, I've never seen a commercially built 96 action, you may be confused with the 98 action,
But this is Tronneroi's Thread, Sorry for the side line.

CG 63 built on Swedish M96 action
I don’t have cg63 but have original m96

Schulz Larsen built on German M 98 ( I have one in 6.5x55)
Both with really heavy barrels usually with pip sights sport rifles - not commercial for huntets

It shoots sub MOA groups, and cost me 275 at tradeex a couple months ago.
