Default Coyotes and bait?

I have not trapped in a few years, so I decided to get my residental licence and target coyotes around home. My bait consist of butcher scraps and has been out for almost two weeks and the coyotes are still not coming in! There is a lot of ravins and magpies and my bait is about half mile away from a feed lot. Yesterday I mixed some old bait fish with deep fry oil in a blender and covered the bait with it in hopes of the birds spreading scent around and a curious coyote coming in. Does anybody have any tips on how to bring them in? Or maybe why they aren't coming in?

Thanks

No stink in the cold weather.
I use a bit of Skunk essence at all my baits. The scraps themselves will not give off much volume on stink. The best is fresh guts. I sometimes find a small willow patch and set snares all around and put a few good globs of skunk essence on a cotton ball and catch them that way without bait as well.

Be patient, if there's free easy food out, the coyotes won't be far away. They can't resist an easy meal.

freeze some deer hide on to your bait. Doesn't take much.. Makes it much better from what I found.

Fish based baits would not be a typical natural coyote food.

Meat baits. Try putting a scent bait in the area too.

If your bait is 1/2 mile from a feedlot, you have too much competition. They usually hang tight to feedlots because of the food source and danger free atmosphere.

I'm going to halfords this week and im going to pick up skunk essence and give that a go. I butchered 2 pigs a week ago and they are finally starting to come in. I'm thinking the cold weather last week with the massive snow fall prevented scent from spreading?
