Well I'm heading out with jimsummit to the trapline tommorow. Should be an adventure! Gonna try and find some new cutlines and do some exploring. Ill post pics when we get back.

Pulled the groomer down the trail a couple times, makes a really good job, cuts the bumps and fills in the holes. 357 is holding up the catch, gas money for the day, squirrels!!

Well we just got back! Had a good trip out there. Left Friday at noon, got to the north cabin around 3. Picked up two lynx close to the cabin. Got to the south cabin around supper time with one marten along the way. Had some wieners and coffee, then back to the south end. Got there 9:30, having enjoyed 97kms of scenery. Saturday morning it was coffee and bacon, then off to check more traps. Only weasels and squirrels this time. Did some exploring, checked new lines and got back to the cabin by supper. After grub it was 30 Kms back to the truck. Lots of fun!

That is a sweet catch!!! He is a very big weasel, wow! If only my boxes would look like this! They are still empty.

Yes nice colour,but was a youngster so not large,but almost as white as the snow,my clearest colour this year,caught large female at same feedlot that was almost same colour,but to catch in my first use of a hay set makes even more memorable to me,now set is nice and smelly,so more to come i'm hoping,see what morning brings,maybe his Daddy,all big and white

Didn't do as much trapping as I thought I would this season, got a late start after trying to fill my moose tag and then had to deal with a broken sled and sourcing parts. Didn't do to bad over all though. Main goal was to get a beaver and a weasel this year and did both.

7 coyotes
6 squirrels
5 beaver
1 weasel

Keeping a couple of the beaver and the weasel to get them tanned for the man cave all and sent a coyote to my mom so she can make a hood liner for her parka.

Well I finally conected on a Wolf. Beautiful Black/Grey to boot. Caught in snare at bait station. Nice juvinile female, hopefully the rest of the pack come looking for her.

Well the weather was warm & plus side, great for being out but not so good for trapping. My wife and two sisters joined me to see exactly what I was doing every time I headed out to the "line".

We left fri afternoon and got to the cabin by 6pm checking sets on the way in, but had no fur any where, cept a weasel at the cabin. After supper did some work on the cabin and enjoyed the warm evening of +3C.

Next morning it was coffee and pancakes, and down to the creek to chop a hole for water. Then off to the line, first trail set was empty and the next set had not caught anything yet so I was surprised to see fur, "woo hoo" first Lynx of the day. A nice looking male caught in a snare, he had walked by many times in the past.

Off down the line to the creek where we set two traps for mink, only to see a raven circle over head. I was expecting the worse and found a marten with a big hole pecked on one side, could have at least been a mink! Down the line past a number of empty Lynx sets cleaning up the marten sets as our season is mostly done and are starting to see more females caught.

Came up to a small ridge with Lynx set and marten set, the lynx set had tracks all over it but snares were blown down from the winds. The marten set had connected, a nice fisher, second one this year in the same spot.

Some pics and off down the line past the cubbies that no Lynx has ever dared stick their head into, but set just in case a wolverine should come by. Came up to a set where I had gone down an old cutline and back, then set on my trail. Movement caught my eye and it was cat #2, woo hoo!

Down a side trail but no luck so back on the main trail to the next set, woo hoo! another cat, #3 caught in a bait set.


Headed down the trail, picking up a weasel here and there, found another neat looking marten with white paws.

Back on the trail, a Lynx had dug around in the snow, missing the snare, where another cat was eaten a couple weeks ago. It then walked down the trail, I was getting my hopes up as there was a trail set about a mile further. Sure enough, caught up to the cat, nice looking male and #4! Had some rabbits caught in our lynx snares, more bait for next round.
Checked the wolverine bucket at the end of the line and headed back to the cabin, exploring the creek along the way.

The 300 Tundra started having fuel problems so I decided not to set some of the beaver houses but rather head for the cabin. The fuel pump was weak not getting enough fuel to the carb. Back at the cabin we had supper and had the critters pose for pics, only the rabbits objected to posing next to the cats.

The 300 tundra just did not want to go home so ended up hooking it behind my sleigh loaded with fur and gear and towed the whole deal. I am impressed with the 550 engine, it's tuned for pulling loads which I'm sure a lot of you guys know.
First time the 300 did't make it home in the last 3 seasons of trapping, glad I was not out by myself on the 300, it would have been a nice walk...

Well, with my first catch ever so small, it didn't fit on my board. So a huge thank you to BigMountainRider for helping me skin and salt him as a rug. This is how he turned out!


As the season begins to come to a close soon, how was your guy's seasons? Hope they were all good!

I'm supposed to junior on a line next season. What scares me is, my taxidermy bill will probably be much more than my fur check. How many of you guys have trapline mounts?

Wayyyyy to many. That's why my brother's wife opened a taxidermy shop.

Much cheaper! Mind you, we haven't got a bill yet. I sent my wife over there to work off the bill.

Thats a nice secondary table Brian, as I am sure most of your fur is in this weeks auction. I sure wish we had Marten like that in my area. Just skinned out my last Fisher for the season yesterday, quota met, on to the water now for me.
