Default First 2013 wolf

A few fellow-trappers had me wondering if the wolves had somehow achieved super powers of set detection!
So, made three of my favorite sets, was back in the area deer hunting only 2 days later & noticed 5 spread-out wolf tracks coming from the set area, going straight & fast. Walked the 2 miles to the sets and found one displaced. Another set was totally destroyed, with the spruce limb missing along with the ram.

To make a long story even longer, after a 3 mile chase through thick underbrush, a chest shot anchored him. He's a big one (the 150gr STT 308 never exited on a frontal chest shot).

Good on ya for chasing him down! Where did the snare hit him and how was it anchored? Just curious as I don't want it to happen to me although I have never used power rams.

The snare connected perfectly but failed to finish restricting.
A hairball attached to some burrs was jammed in the trigger notch.
He's a huge well-furred guy, for sure the alpha (8ft on the board).

For sure he was the Alpha, two days later I saw where the pack had lain on the ice at the catch site.
They appeared oblivious to my tracks etc.
I received an instant response from a phone-downloaded howl.
Came so close to calling them all out to a beaver dam. (found that I can get SIX cartridges in my 6.5mm.)
After couple dozen replies & closing, they swung southward into the air current & I couldn't get farther south quick enough.
I saw their fresh tracks & markings as they circled me.

I've done him up taxidermy-ready (lips ears claws) & have been offered six bills for the pelt.
