Default Minor pistol malfunction....thoughts ??

So tor educational purposes and chit chat .......today at the range my 1911 45ACP started to not stay open when empty ,and instead closed up again as if chambered /mag not empty ... Cobra mags , checked with another fellas more normal GI mag and his locked up tight in my gun ,and no release issues , i can rack my back and release slide as if it were loaded ...thoughts ???

weak springs ???dirty ??? worn mags ??? thumb release catch thing worn out ???

about to strip down mags and pistol in 3,2,1 now

Sounds like the follower is not engaging your slide stop with your mags and the other mags that you used were engaging it fine.

More than likely if you were to compare the followers on both mags you'd see the difference or see if you could adjust accordingly to get the follower to engage your slide stop. Sorry I don't have 1911 specific info for ya.

Possibilities:
Action not cycling all the way back
Magazine follower not pushing up stop properly

actually guys ...seems just dirty ...... all cleaned and reassembled ...1st mag cleaned ...duymmmy rounds .... lock uo is much tighter ...much more pressure required to slide action forward with or without mag



guess it was just dirty .......

welll got 2 more marks on the ceiling ...dam ...should where glasses with a 1911

i hate stripping them ... mine has no bushing either ...bull barrell

Yep mag issues if it won’t lock back after the last round. Amazing to me that most people focus on cleaning their firearm but many forget the magazines.

right ..... could have been the case ...i didnt test one or the other ...just cleaned all ...guess thats for a nother time ..... just glad my precious baby is ok ........barrell seemed rotten too ..... groups were bad ........ hoping wasnt my shooting ......next 1000 rounds ill; clean either or ....

anyhow folks thanks for your time ...... clean your guns and keep from politicians ...... and clean your mags
