Default 219 Donaldson Wasp brass forming

Anyone have a 219 Donaldson wasp and formed brass for it? Looked at getting the Redding 30-30 to 219 Donaldson Wasp #1&2 form die plus the form&trim die set but it’s big bucks for all the dies!! Was wondering if just getting some 25-35 brass and necking it down is a better root to go. Any info appreciated.
Thanks

You don't need forming dies to make this brass. If you start with 25-35 brass., 2.04", trim off about 1/3 of the neck with a cutoff wheel to just over .1 longer than Wasp length (finished length is usually 1.75). Lube the case up well, run it through the seating die with the seating pug removed, now run it through your FL sizing die. Trim to finished length and fire form. If you start with 30-30 brass run it through a 243 or 25 caliber FL die first then follow the steps.

Thanks appreciate the info. I found some 25-35 and thought it would be one less step to do then going with 30-30 or buying the forming dies. It should be a fun one to shoot!

That should make a real good start. If you run into any issues or have any questions too complicated for typing out answers pm me your phone number and I will try to help you work them through. You will enjoy this round, it was one of the first high velocity Benchrest Accurate round out there. Great round for long range gopher fun in the sun.
