Default stalked by coyote tonight

so i walked out of my shop this evening to put some wood away and from the corner of my eye saw something approaching me. went into full survival/combat mode (where can i run to) when i realised it was small. thought it was a bold rabbit at first, then figured it was some small stray dog. turns out it was a runt coyote pup with attitude. walked right up to me with a feed me or kill me look. looking closely i could tell it was starving by it's distended midsection. I picked it up and and saw that it had only half a lower jaw and NO TEETH lower or upper. other then that he was in fine shape with a beautifull coat. how he lasted this long i don't know. fed him some rice noodles in pork gravy and i swear he follows me around like a puppy. daughter wants me to keep him but i know i'll have to call the pound in the morning. at least he had one good meal. wish i could show you video of him playing with neighbors dog. he's the cutest darn thing. already comes to my whistle.

Could probably get his jaw fixed, maybe a couple fake teeth and his shots

Save Wile E Coyote fund

We all shot enough of them, maybe it's time to save one

I'm in for $5

this is really getting tough. pics. don't do justice to this little fellow. just fed him some rice and chopped green beans (he doesen't eat green beans). his face could pass for a pom or chiuaua but the neck down is all coyote. maybe i'll fatten him up over the weekend and let an expert decide what he really is. if he's only part (most) coyote maybe i'll be allowed to keep him. really hate the alternative. it's my own fault for taking pity on him in the first place.

Default dog

I have a pretty hard time believing that's any sort of coyote at all. I'm thinking you're having a little fun with this.

whatever it is, good on you for feeding him and giving him a warm safe place to sleep for a few days while you figure everything out.

Good on you for giving him some grub and place to relax.

Talk to any fur grader.

Trappers and hunters have been known to sneak a few a dog hides in a pile of coyote furs.

LOL......

Don't set it free into the wild, without it's fluffy pillow bed and matching set of water/food bowls it won't survive the week!

Default light of day

i know a lot of you think i was playing a joke or just don't my dog breeds. been around animals all my life and have made my meagre living providing shelters and accessories for cats and dogs for the past 25 years. i can ussuallyidentify a breed of dog even if it's mixed or exotic. this little fellow has me STUMPED. i'll be forced to bring him to animal shelter this afternoon but will be very surprised if he isn't more fox/coyote than domestic dog. thats not dog hair im rubbing but fur.
hope my cats don't kill him while i'm in the shower.lol

He is a fairly cute lil fella, Although bringing him to the shelter will do nothing but end up with him being put down. My bet and vote is for a yote. Maybe a cross with a regular dog but a yote nonetheless. Who knows you may end up with a life long friend there if you are able or willing to keep him and take care of him. But if thats outta the question (unsure of legalities and such) a wildlife rehab center would be the best bet for the lil fella.

We are all hunters and im sure we've all whacked a few or dozens or hundreds of yotes. But we also respect such wildlife (see one on the road avoid it with truck, might see him another day with rifle in hand) we all care for and about the wildlife we are in pursuit of. You sir may have some good karma coming your way! With hunting season around the corner someone may be blessed with a cranker of some kind

Being that friendly and tame leads me to think there are no coyote genes in that puppy.
