Default Bradley Fighting Vehicle, Aluminum???

So the US went the Aluminum route in their "Bradley Fighting vehicle".

Huge hit, very light, given the aluminum body armour (really!!).

Then in field testing they shot one up with some incendiary rounds, and it caught fire and burned.

Given that the crew would be cooked, solution was .... A HALON FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM!!

But they realized a little too late that the crew would be suffocated.

Lots more soldiers where the last crew came from, I guess.

Don't for a minute think that "military grade" is synonymous with "Genius".

Aluminium is aluminium. There's no such thing as "military grade".

All Aluminum has whats called a "Mil spec" or Military Specification. It is just a number assigned to the different alloys and heat treatments, from eavestrough to Aircraft structural components. Its just standardized Part Number for different types of materials if you will. It's just a marketing ploy as you're Aluminum deep fryer pot also has a Mil-spec and therefore "Military Grade"
