Incredible buck, but doesn't it have to dry out for 60 days before it's official?

AFIK the hunter was from Tenneesee and the Buck was taken in Iowa with a Muzzleloader. Just what I read.
It was officially scored Jan 09/17 after the 60 day drying period.

Shot in Sumner County, Tennessee, with a muzzle loader. The Hunter, a 26 year old farmer blew a couple of chances before connecting. Estimated at 3 years old and live weight of 150 lbs.
It looks like a pen raised deer but the kill must be legitimate as there are a lot of eyes on a potential world record and I'm sure any funny business would have been uncovered by now. The rut must be later down there as any buck up here would have busted a bunch of those little tines off by the middle of November.

Even if it's not a pen raised deer...it had some help from some food plots etc.

I think this must be the New muzzleloader record. There are in fact several bigger NT whitetail deer in the books.

Two pictures that portray everything that is wrong with hunting on this continent that could not be said as well in a million thoughtful words. Just a travesty.

I think the top two NT WT's are both pick ups so, this may be the record for one shot by a hunter?

And what is it exactly that you don't agree with? If it's truly a wild free range deer that was taken legally by fair chase then I'm not sure what the "travesty" is.

Should have let him grow one more year Wicked NT.
I too wonder how he grew such a rack in 3 yrs but so did the Broder buck and i'm sure there was no extra feed back then.
To get him after a couple failed attempts too. Can you imagine chasing that and missing, only to go home and think about it 24/7. Yikes.

Seems like food plots are good for the health of deer then.......

I think I read that the Hanson buck was 3 1/2 years old based on aging of the teeth.

While I certainly wouldn't pass on that buck I have seen other bucks (in pictures) that I would choose over this one if given the choice. I like some "junk" on a rack, some sticks, split tine or two, drop tines (cool) but that just looks like a pen raised deer to me.
Congrats to him though as it is a once in several lifetimes type of deer.

Sure does look pen raised.
Either way.... just doesn't do it for me. I dunno why.
