I can see the appeal, but I think the frying pan to fire analogy applies here.

Also...when I see heavyweights sitting out a fight, there's typically a pretty good reason. People like Mackay, Kenny, Ambrose, even Brad Wall....aren't willing to step in the ring this time. We need more than O'Leary to win next time around, we need a miracle.
That sounds like Trudeau.

I've only ever heard O'leary talk about money. I'd like to hear what he has to say about other issues. CBC, Gun Control, defense spending, immigration, health care, gerbil warming, Green house gas policy, senate reform, election reform.

Yeah, there's a lot of unknowns there and I'm not sure I'd trust the answers.

Gerbil warming....that would explain his demeanor

I'm not sure that would matter to a guy like O'Leary. If he can get the support of everyone but Quebec he'd have a majority. If he can show leadership it's likely Ontario will back him. He's pro business pro prosperity and people are getting tired of shivering in the dark. While current careare polititions talk with the only action is to increase taxes!

That's the first I've heard of Trudeau declaring bankruptcy. Can you provide any corroboration?

Leary doesn't have a chance if he's not fluent in both official languages.

Harper proved that you can win a majority Government without Quebec. Not speaking French is not a deal breaker anymore.

Remember John Diefenbaker? When he spoke French, everyone in Western Canada knew what he said.

Not questioning your authenticity but, how do you know that? Is there something that I missed. If he is anti gun, then I might have to re-think this but, I need some proof of his quotes.

The two people I would rather see run is the guy that is CEO for Boston pizza or the woman that sits beside him on that TV show. They both have heads on their shoulders and not up their arze.

Mark Carney would be my first choice for PM (if we could get the UK to give him back).

I'd elect Brad Wall for PM.

He's the only one standing up to the carbon taxes.

That's the most important thing you have going on in your political landscape? Carbon tax? ANY taxes? Trade? Nothing else matters?
I guess elections are simple then.

Yep, many voted Harper for the second time based on his stance on firearms alone. They don't see or really care about the flip side.

That's why I don't vote, lesser of all evils isn't good enough. There is no solution.

Um, right here: http://devel.autopod.ca/chum/217/podcasts/ap.swf

Scroll down to 2016/06/13 - Kevin discusses gun control, the shooting in Orlando, and immigration.

Excerpt: "...there is no need for military assault weapons like the AR-15..."

Maybe he presents a positive financially-oriented candidate for the job, maybe not. What is absolutely clear from a firearms rights perspective though is that he's as solid a choice as Allan Rock or Ralph Goodale for the CPC top seat.

Seriously folks, there are better contenders that can deliver on the first point without selling us short on the second.

Then there's this:

Simply being financially conservative does not make a Liberal a Conservative. Little more to it than that.

Now, OK the guy might be palatable as Finance Minister, but IMO the CPC top seat needs to be someone who offers a palatable draw to voters at center and left of center, but who still at heart holds conservative values, including firearms rights.

I don't care if he speaks French, I want to know his thoughts on something besides money.

I'm pretty sure I've heard something along these lines as well, but I can't find it anywhere. I think he said it in an interview somewhere.

In an interview with Evan Solomon. He rails against the AR15 as something that nobody needs except law enforcement. Although I think they were confusing an ar15 with an m16.

I was hoping he would run but if he's not gun friendly then he is not the man we outdoorsmen want. The only reason I got interested in politics was to be able to keep my firearms,I love hunting and the outdoors and want to be able to protect me and my family from two or four legged creatures if need be.I live far enough out in the county that I need a firearm for defence we have lots of bear and cougar where I live.

I couldn't vote for someone just as anti gun as Trudeau himself. Should be interesting to see what Goodale has planned for us gunnies...
