Default Flames VS Oilers

Anyone going to the season opener tonight? Even though I cheer for the Flames, I'm looking forward to seeing the new building on TV. It would be nice to see the battle of Alberta actually mean something in the standings this year!

gonna be a old school slobbernocker from the drop of the puck, easily 40+minutes in the sin bin per side.
match 1- Lucic vs Ferland
match 2- Maroon vs Bolland
match 3- Engelland vs Kassian
match 4- Giordano vs Nurse
Of course, the game could be a absolute sister-kisser..

I can't wait for both teams to be playing games that count. I miss the days of playoff hockey and the real battle of Alberta.

The only fight that might go ahead on that list is Engelland and Kassian.

The other 3 fights would have 3 Flames headed to the hospital. Not gonna happen.

Maybe to visit Nurse as they felt so bad.

Don't think there is a Bolland in the Calgary organization. You confused and mean Bollig?

I'm not sure about Nurse. Seen him fight once and he'll go. But I have no idea if Gio might match him.

Default Predictions on tonight final score?

I am thinking 5 - 2 Flames over Oilers.

A proper Christening of the new fancy building.

I was wondering why the NHL didn't match them against Vancouver, then they could at least win their first game in the new building.

I'm predicting Calgary 4, Edmonton 2. Edmonton's top six looks pretty good but there are likely some major flaws to exploit on their bottom six and I think Calgary's defense and goaltending is better straight across.

Lol mine too. Looks like they forgot to work on the powerplay again this year. Flames are looking really good this period.

Unfortunately, the Edmonton/ Calgary games will likely continue to be meaningless games for years to come, since neither team will likely even make the playoffs. Edmonton may have a new arena, but if they want to win a Stanley Cup, they will need a new team as well.

Only 8 guys from last year's opening night are on the roster today.
