Default For the Golfers - California Dreaming

Hi all … back in Palm Springs for three months, bought another short stay membership at Escena, green fees are less this year, track is in great shape, got some range time in, still need to work on the swing, played two rounds shot mid-80’s, Scotty misbehaved and cost me a few too many strokes.

Some pics …..

My brother rented a place in Mission Bay, San Diego, tried to get a T-time at Torrey Pines but the course was closed because they’re getting ready for the Farmers next weekend. The course is a Muni owned by the City of S.D. green fees are $192.00 for PGA South Course for non-residences and $105.00 for their North Course. We got to spend some time looking around the place including the pro-shop, bought a few souvenirs and overpriced golf hat.

Some pic’s of the nicest Muni course I’ve ever seen …. Got to go back!

Welcome ….

Nice club House ….

The Key …

Don’t be Late ….

South Course History …. Tiger Woods won the last US Open in 2008 over Rocco Mediate

Practice Range - Nothing Special ….

Three semi’s full of gear …..

Selfie

Hole #1 …. Next up on the T from Sylvan Lake AB, Canada ….. Z-z

Stay out of those bunkers on the right!

Dreaming of the Seniors Tour & virtual golf …..

Stay to right of pin …. I got this shot!

We ended up booking a T-time at their sister course, Balboa Park which wasn’t far from home or downtown . We were told it was over 100 years old, tight with small greens & lots of elevation.

See …..

If you ever get the chance, put Torrey Pines on your bucket list.

Cheers

David

Great pics! Thanks for posting. I'm getting the urge to dig out the wrenches and head to Phoenix and visit Mom.

Balboa looks gorgeous, but a nightmare for me. I like some room for my non-precision shots.

Drive for show, putt for dough.

Palm Springs has been cool and wet this Jan. During the past three weeks, no daytime highs above 23C. Raining all day today. News is proclaiming it is the kind of weather Californians have been praying for as aquifers and reservoirs are being replenished.

JR ... I demo'd the Ping G30 here last year and it kicked my 915 D3 out of the bag, Ping is the best driver/head I've ever hit, they say the new Ping "G" Series is even more forgiving. I was also at the PGA Superstore here the other day, demo'd a Ping "G" 14.5* 3 wood, launch monitor said 101 club head speed, 227 carry with 240 total distance on 5 shot avg .... that's about 10-12 yds farther than my 15* - 915F, may have to upgrade to a new Ping 3 wood before I return home along with a couple of doz. Costco K Signatures when they get their new stock in.

I posted on the other thread .... crazy rain here expecting 1.5" to 2" by tomorrow, TV is issuing Flood Warnings for the Coachella Valley, lucky were in the desert, it sucks it up real quick.

Default I hear ya

I tried the same driver last year but it didn't outperform my Cleveland so I opted to stick with what I had and save the $$ for greenfees (played 50 rounds last year). Good luck getting your hands on the balls, as soon as they release them they are sold out in minutes, like a Garth Brooks concert!! Me and a buddy were looking last night and they are going for the price of gold on E-bay...and some morons are actually bidding on them at ridiculous prices. Ah well, no one ever said you had to be smart to have money.

The fellow at Costco said they will be here on the shelf by the first week of March .... if I can get some do you want a dozen to try I can drop them off on the side of the HWY near YYC when I get back in mid-April ?

I've seen White fish in the Coachella Canal that runs through the Terra Lago golf course and I understand you can get Tilapia in the Salton Sea which isn't far from P.S. not sure about the other species ... if you get out good fishin.

But I'm kinda stuck to my Srixon & Taylormades at the moment. I was just looking as a buddy was interested in them. I'm off to Vegas in march and i may look to see if they have a dozen for him, but no need to make a specific trip for me, appreciate the kind offer though!!

Hi R ..... nice to hear from you, trust all is well.

Took the day off today & when to the range, need to work on my long irons. Booked a T-time tomorrow morning, the course should be a bit dryer got over 2" and most of it gets sucked up into the desert.

260 Rem, those are some great pic's tks for sharing. Took these from our (rental) Condo, we're at the Desert Princess, these are just across from the P.S. airport looking towards downtown .... notice the SNOW.

Cheers

D.
