I will be looking at getting a shack in queen Charlotte island. I will still live in Alberta for main residence. Is there anyway I can get my hunting license in BC as a resident and Alberta as resident?...

No you'll still have to get a out of province licence for BC. Both provinces require you to live at your main residence for a certain amount of time before you can apply for resident licence.

Welcome aboard !!!! Ive got the same thing up there. I've got one of the old PMQ's in Masset that I use for fishing, hunting and airbnb. You will not regret it!!!!
You can't however have 2 primary residences, legally you have to pick one.
I don't think that for other than for the hunting, and for your saltwater possession limit there isn't a lot to be gained by making QCI your main residence.

If you are a non resident Canadian, you would be able to get a BC resident to guide you similar to a hunter host in Alberta. It will cost a bit more for licences, but if you have a place, I'm sure you can make a friend to hunt with. It would be quite easy, I took my dad(Albertan) last year on a moose hunt in BC, just have to fill out the paperwork in advance.

Good point. I've never taken out of Alberta friends hunting (fishing all the time) but from what I've heard it's only about $50. Freshwater fishing licenses will be a little more as an out of province also.

There are restrictions on what animals you can hunt in certain areas, but if you want blacktails, on the island, since the limit is 15 blacktails per year, I don't think you will have an issue. More guys should take an opportunity to hunt other than their own backyard.

Yeah I know for that part, as I hunted and fished on QCI before. Would be nice to be allowed to do things on my own but there is no way I will lose my Alberta residency
Thx

A permit to accompany and apply for it WELL in advance. Sometimes takes months. And don`t shoot beach deer, they eat seaweed and smell funny when you cook them.
