Default Jack Kempf and recurve shooters...please help

About a year ago I put my name on Jack Kempf list to have a bow built for me. About a week after that The Wildfire hit, followed by a career change and a recent separation…needless to say it wasn’t top of mind.

Well he he called…yeah! So need to make a decision quickly.

1) model of bow,
2)recommended draw weight (min 40 max 50) I will be used for hunting.
2)Length of bow. I find my 62 inch Samick long. How short can I go?

I am 28.5 draw length on a compound so he said I will be a little shorter.

Since I put my name on his this i bought a Sage Samick at 40pds 62”. I enjoy shooting recurve and I would like to have have one of Jack’s Bow’s as a bow to keep forever.

I think they are a piece of art .

Default New bow

You should ask Jack for his advice, it's worth more than all of ours combined.

Chefs advice is perfect. Once the bow is in hand you won't touch the sage so don't get too attached.

Default Kempf recurve

58" kwik styk. I have 6 of them in various lengths and weights. I hunt with the shorter ones and shoot the longer ones more. 58" is a good all round length. Do not over bow yourself, 50# is lots. I have shot through a bull moose with 44#'s and a heavy arrow with one of the kwik styks. I also have his other models.

I'd go 58 or 60 inch kwik styk... 48@28 he makes amazing bows. I have one of his original "Noodle Bow".. which are the Trophy Hunter I believe now for many years.

I did, we spoke today briefly. We will talk more in person soon.

Just wanted to get some other experiences from shooters. To see if some models shoot better then others or if one model is better for hunting an such ie length of bow.

Just curious what a bow like that will cost. I have 2 inexpensive recurve's and two long bows now.

He's doing really well for 85 years old... he says it's a couple month wait for his bows...

Cat is correct. I think his Long Bows are a little cheaper $700-$800? His Recurves start at $875 or $975... I can't remember what he said. Some exotic woods and features are extra.
