Default Shipping from the USA

I’m looking into ordering some plumbing parts from a US supplier who unfortunately won’t ship to Canada. The irony is that they ship free within the USA so I was looking into getting my sister in Texas to forward the order to me, the trouble is that USPS quotes a rather high price from her zip code to my postal code, in excess of the value of the goods. Does anyone know of a less expensive way to ship from there? I know to avoid UPS due to their highway-robbery-like ‘brokerage fees’. I might have to use USPS anyways, just wondering if anyone has found an inexpensive shipper that also doesn’t have a murderous brokerage fee.

Not sure if it’s an option for you but I personally know of people who have been shipping to US shipping depots and picking up across the line. (Sweetgrass). It had to be deemed essential to business and he had to have his paperwork in order, but that’s normal. I would check first to make sure nothings changed, as this was a few weeks ago.

I hate buying anything from the states for this reason haha SOOOO much headache. You're better off just sucking up the cost from USPS and be stress free.

Default Prior to Covid

I was regularly bringing dog training equipment in from Texas and Tennesee that also had free shipping in USA but would rather not ship to canada. I got it shipped to my US shipping depot in sweetgrass. For a time I had a friend in Lethbridge who went over for work regularly and brought it back for me only paying the GST at crossing. For the last shipment he wasnt scheduled to be in USA for a while so I hired a courier in Northeast Calgary to pick it up in Sweetgrass and bring it to Calgary. At $60 including gst at border it was well worth it. Think it was DYK Post??
