Default washing coyotes

I wash my coyotes in a big pail of water with liquid laundry detergent that has downy softener in it. I was wondering if this is the best to use? I am also having a hard time getting the water wrung out of the hides and it takes a long time to dry them in my heated garage. What is the best way to wring out the hide after hand washing?
