Default Need Advice for South of Edmonton Area

Hi there,

New hunter here. Live south of Edmonton, east of beaumont in Leduc County. Hoping to bag a buck and doe this year. Can anyone offer any advice on any good spots? I have been out by Rocky Mountain House with a buddy once already and he took a doe. A drive isn't out of the question! Should I be heading back there?

Welcome to the forum.

A first post asking for such delicate info is hard to respond to.

I don't think you have to go so far for a deer. All of the WMU's close by have animals. You need to get permission on some private lands. There is no reason you couldn't be hunting within 20 minutes of home. Just requires the effort and a little research.

Welcome, lots of great areas close to your home. Ministic Lake bird sanctuary (20 minute-ish) to the east of you is a huge public access area that has plenty of animals for chase. The WMU is 242. Read up on it in the regs, take a hike out there and check it out if your looking for something close to home but make sure you have good footwear as it's foot access only.
