Great find. They have test kits they provide to hunters! Get me some on those. The representative who posted this only has 33 subscribers so great find!

doesnt look like the same research
The stuff out of LSU suggests that it might be due to bacteria and not a prion.
The study you quote is a prion vaccine.

This is a huge discovery. Give it time to develop and be understood. Rome wasnt built in a day.

Good science requires repeatable results.
The theories of LSU scientist have not convinced reputable CWD scientists and have not been repeatable.
Read with interest, but reserve scepticism.

After watching it much of it seemed like a half hour infomercial from a pharmaceutical company except it was for animals instead of people. A lot of drama and fear elements, is CWD going to take over the world? Surprised they didn't offer a prospectus for investors.
How practical will it be, are they going to inoculate all critters. How much is a shot going to cost, who is going to do it? Where is the money coming from?
I dunno...... it just came off like a little to good to be true sales job to me.

Looked to me as it was an infomertial to raise money for research. Very little on what they found and where was this Dr. Baschean ( sp ? ). Very little there other than telling everyone to get ready to give--money.

Considering...
How big CWD has become, we should be throwing everything we have at the research. Who cares who’s right, so long as we find the right answer. We know so little about the mechanism of the spread it’s interesting. Agree it was an infomercial. Also old.

Interesting for sure, especially if they can cure cjd in humans using the same meds or whatever they develop.

Bastian has been working on this for a long time now at least 2003, they have always been fighting against the Prusiner prion theory people who get all the money.
Keep the fingers crossed that Koch's postulates hold true.

That video was originally from 2011. Unfortunately there isn't much information about the "findings" since that I am able to find.

Bastian is continuing his research (Novel Spiroplasma Spp. Cultured From Brains and Lymph Nodes From Ruminants Affected With Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy. Journal of Neuropathology and Experimental Neurology.77(1). November 2017).
As noted above, he has not apparently convinced most TSE researchers.

I believe you mean 2017. As that is when his report was published about the bacteria.
It seems it is gaining traction in the USA. With politicians, hunting groups etc getting behind it. with any research like this in regards to stopping a very large outbreak, it requires a large amount of money to pay scientists, doctors, lab workers, support people etc..

Press Conference date
Although it may not make much difference, as far as I can tell the video linked by Pioneer2 (OP) occurred on February 4, 2019. Go to http://www.repmaloney.com/NewsItem.aspx?NewsID=274724 and click on the link near the bottom. It's the same video. I think this matters because it shows that more people are taking the threat seriously.
FWIW Bastian has been working on the Spiroplasma hypothesis since at least 1979 (Bastian, Frank. Spiroplasma-like inclusions in Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. Archives of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. 01 Dec 1979, 103(13):665-669.) Although he may not have convinced many other researchers, I agree with those who posted about the importance of exploring all possible avenues in regard to controlling these diseases.

Check the link in my post above, the article links the video.
I do agree that all avenues should be explored.

Oops
I should have tried Baticus' link instead of googling. It is puzzling that Maloney's link seems to show the press conference in 2019 and I can't figure out why. It's clear that the 2011 article already has the video.
I think we all agree that as much work should be done on these diseases as is feasible. Since Bastian has been working on this for 40 years or so, I wonder why the majority of researchers accept the prion hypothesis.

Hmm.
I just noticed that the video on the "Deer and deer hunting" website is marked "Update". Could this have been added in 2019? Is there any way to check if it was part of the 2011 article or any other way to determine the date the video was made? I'm not very good with this sort of thing on the internet.
Thanks to anyone who can help straighten out these dates.

Youtube expert needed.
The video in question says "Published on Feb 4, 2019". Does this mean that this was the first time it was posted or does it mean that Rep. Maloney called attention to a video from 2011? I took the 2019 to be the date of the funding promise for Bastian's research but another member had it as 2011.
Thanks for your input regarding Youtube.

Upon some further digging, it does appear that video is actually from 2019. Why deeranddeerhunting.com would update an 8 year old article is beyond me.
Sorry for the confusion!

I'm just happy to have things straightened out. And I'm happy that more organizations are paying attention to the problems of TSEs and CWD in particular.
