Default Garage / Shop lighting

I didn't want to Hijack the other thread on lighting so I started this one.
I'm looking for the brightest bulb (I know, I'm not it) for my garage.
I have nine sockets in the garage ceiling evenly spaced with two bulbs in each socket (a duplex).
Not looking to change fixtures or anything. Just the brightest bulb to screw into the existing sockets.
I'm currently using 100w CFLs.
I'm sure LED is brighter but what specific type? wattage?
Preferably something I can pick up at Homey Despot or other hardware store.
Preferably something that won't cost me a fortune for 18 bulbs.

Dunno about brightest, but maybe try Costco for the LED bulbs for cheapest LED locally. Did the whole house a few years ago with bulbs from there. Only had two out of over 70 bulbs fail within the first few months and none since. I see they are carrying the T8 tube lighting now too - might swap to those for my workshop ballast lighting.

If looking for brightest, go with the bright white or daylight style. That's usually the 5000 K color and get the highest lumen possible.

Those look good but at $40 each I'd go broke.

These are quite a bit cheaper, and still equivalent to a 250 watt incandescent. I see it is a garage, so probably fairly low ceiling compared to my shop. I'm sure they would work well

Go with LED 4' tubes. Just make sure the ballast is a quick start
