Default Painted Another Stock Today

Had a bit of fun with some paint today on my Savage 16FCSS Weather Warrior. Base coat was Krylon Fusion flat black then a few swipes with some Krylon Silver Webbing paint then six coats of Krylon Matte Clear Coat for some chip resistance. Yeah yeah i know Chuck, "lipstick on a pig blah blah"

Krylon Fusion at any hardware store that sells Krylon. The Krylon webbing paint however, I have only found at "Michaels". Its that chain of craft stores....

Looks great!

While the factory synthetic finish was not at all bad (despite usually enjoying the looks of a fine wood stock best) I must say your work represents a fine improvement in appearance for your gun! Very nicely done.

seems like a good winter project. I have an old 22 stock perhaps that could use some sprucing up!
Seems pretty straight forward, do you have any tips 1899b?

That looks great. Does the paint hold up quite well with the matte clear?

When I first started to see the web design on rifles I was not really a fan, but I must admit that looks pretty sharp.

That looks great man! We're going to have to get together one weekend after hunting season, maybe make up a bunch of bullets and load up on paint and head out to my cabin. I have a sweet shooting bench and chronograph set up out there. We can do some shooting, painting and some fishing. I'd like to do up my sons savage 243 and my ruger mini 14, what do you say?

I painted two dozen Mallard decoys last year with fusion and topped them with fusion matte clear. I just use regular bags and do not baby my gear. They still look better than new.

paint looks good,....those Salvages need all the help they can get..:-)

now, for your next exercise....a one piece base would allow you to lower your scope without the power ring hitting the base...
you could drop that scope 1/4" easily....

So with the thought of giving that rifle all the help it can get Rick, would you go one piece Leupold or Picatinny rail? The mounts came with the rifle and I thought one piece would be best as well, but I am torn as to which one piece mounts....
