Default Scat question

I was out checking my cams this week. On the hike in its walk a trail along a ridge and I found a big pile of scat. Then another. After a little more searching I found 6 piles. All right along the lip of the ridge. I've never seen elk out there before. Mostly mullies, a few whitetail and moose. There were some large prints but the snow had been melting.

Does Elk scat look like moose scat?

Default This is how I was taught to tell the difference...

Elk scat... The individual pellets can separate, and can be easily confused with moose scat.

Moose scat. As was said, more of a "chocolate almond" appearance. Pellets not "dented" from compaction.
