Best time to buy
I am thinking of purchasing a full set of Kuiu or Sitka gear for hunting (multiple layers multiple products).
a) When is the best time to buy (best deals) pre hunting season or post?
b) which product do you prefer and why?
If you have recomendations other than these two please feel free to share.

Check out Camofire.com...always have lots of Sitka gear at way less than retail however its all in US dollars and there is shipping costs so do the conversion carefully. I'm a big fan of the Stratus line but you are going to need a vest and some layering in late november.

Kuiu usually has a black Friday sale (november.... when hunting season is almost done.) And post some discounts. I would just sign up for their emails and jump on any sale they post. Stuff is freaky expensive.

I've run across that stuff on kijiji. Might want to check there.

If you are purchasing a full set call them up and deal over the phone. Relatively easy to get a deal on a large purchase.

Kryptek makes some nice products as well. Might be something to look into.

If you can catch KUIU at a trade show or gear days event you get 15% off your order. Plus you get to try everything on, see what you like and what you don't, and have any questions answered. That's pretty well how I got most of mine.

I’d never buy that stuff used. Compare a new layer to and old one. All pilled out and dull, no longer waterproof.

Can't justify the cost of Sitka. I think firstlite has the best baselayers. Kuiu good for outerwear.
Kuiu trade shows is the best way to go for the 15% off. Unfortunately they just wrapped up thier Alberta tour. All their other online sales are usually pretty sub par with the biggest discounts on obscure items, sizes and colors. Could ask around for a coupon code and may find one for ~10%.

I own Sitka and love it. I think it's worth the money. I've been using my "go to" stuff for 7-8 yrs so far, no issues with any pieces yet. Sitka fits great and works well for me.
sale right now https://www.sitkagear.com/products/m...er=webspecials
I tried on some Kuiu stuff a few years ago when they were in Fort Mac...also very nice stuff. I'd would mix and match brands depending on the piece and purpose of it.

Incredigirl gives me the "Don't you DARE!" look when she sees me fingering the Sitka clothing. I think she is actually allergic to camo.

Kuiu has a rep in red deer Dallas Kota. He has a full selection of all their gear so you can try it all before you buy. I was never the person to get this stuff, but got some for my trip last year, it is totally worth it....but only if you buy into the system and layer properly. It doesn't have to all be with their product, as long as you buy quality layers with proper membranes you will be good to go.

I have Sitka gear that I have been using for 7-8 years. I also have other mountaineering gear that is very similar but not in camo. You can find at outdoor websites on sale. The last Hunt is one. You just have to know the product and sizing before you purchase. Good luck in you gear quest!

I run Kuiu for sheep hunting, Sitka for everything else later into the Fall. Both are great -- and both hurt the wallet initially.
Buy the best once, treat it right, and you should have no issues.
Read online for best specific products in reference to how/where/when you hunt. There is endless information online in forums, chat groups, etc.

Another sitka vote. Great stuff. Some decent deals on kijiji if you keep an eye out.

Sitka sales are end of season as they're blowing out last years product. You've missed the boat for this year.

Sitka user here. Dec, Jan & Feb are when you’re most likely to find deals. Clearing out old stock and preparing for next year. Best deals usually on US sites. Cabelas usually has 15% off in Jan/Feb range.

This is the best way to purchase Kuiu gear.
