Gap lake doesnt freeze entirley plus there is a spring or two in the back section not big for fishing but skating has picked up this year.

I'm amazing it's not fished more thru the ice. I have caught a few 24"+ browns in there in summer and the record rocky mountain white comes from there so there are a few of them to be had too.

All large bodies of water with no islands to hide from a storm...we have a few in Alberta.
They also shift a lot in winter...open water, heaves etc...just be careful.

Lol. Nope. Wasn't us. We luckily somehow picked the right route when we werewolf planed out the night before. Next day we were walking outside of the boat with the pelicans when we were 50 yards from shore

Lac Nanonne has a spring between the church camp and island on the east shore. Locals know of it. I and the GF found it on sleds 25 yrs ago. I hear the lake levels are lower now so not an issue but be aware.

Lac St Anne has a rock pile between rock island and shore. Go slow if you find yourself there.

Devils lake by Onoway has springs and has claimed a few lives already. Orloff too.

Calling lake waves are crazy! As for Lac la nonne the spring you speak of is not a spring it's the narrows, water moves between the island and main land. But the water is so low I don't think it's worry these days.

Gotta agree those bigger lakes are grumpy buggers.
