Default Nissan Rogue CVT fluid help please

Could use some help guys.

My daughter has a 2015 Rogue still under warranty and she is leaving tomorrow (Thanksgiving) for Red Deer to start a new work placement for school. Her boyfriend offered to change the engine oil before she went and she took him up on it.

He drained the tranny fluid instead. I know, I have told her what I think already.

Now she has to leave tomorrow and we need to buy fluid at the local autopart store, someone has offered to open the door to sell it to her. Nissan only recommends a Nissan fluid, but that isn't happening. What could I buy that would be a temporary substitute to get her to Red Deer?

NISSAN CVT Fluid NS-3 is what Nissan recommends.

Thanks

May be a better idea for her to use someone else's car or even rent one. I would not consider looking for a substitute. To much risk for too little gain.

I wouldn't do it, just think about the warranty problem with Nissan if anything goes wrong later with the trans, not a cheap fix, likely in the $5000. figure, as other's have said take it back to Nissan.

Thanks, really appreciated.

Not a lot of choices right now.

We are 8 hours north of Red Deer and she starts work Tuesday morning.

Given Nissan's history with CVT failures I'd be hesitant to put in anything else on the risk that you get rejected down the road. I'd make the boyfriend do a round trip to drive her to work then drive her car down to her when it's fixed!

8 hours is a long drive.

One hitch....she won't let him drive it!!! And I'd have to pay his gas

This fluid will be in there 2 months max, before I would change it when she gets home. If I'm unhappy with what we buy, I'll have her get it changed this week.

I personally would not do it however if she decides to, make sure the fluids are a match, be it in color, or viscosity, she may void warranty!!!
