Default Blasts from the past.

How many people are old enough, or stayed up late enough, to remember CBC playing this one? (Back when CBC was almost useful.)

Before the days of internet and 24 hour a day children's programming, outside of Saturday morning's four networks with cartoons, CBC was a great place to catch a cartoon that taught some historical vignette right before Archie Bunker or Three's Company came on.

Loved that little cartoon, went on the meet and work with John Welldon at the Nation Film Board.

The Log Drivers Waltz tune helped me grow up to be a Canadian.

Also the Black fly song is pure canadian.

Those old CBC classics bring back a lot of memories.
Hinterland Who's Who (re-launched in 2003) was another one...

Smile Not as old as that

I've seen loggers on the Ottawa and the ability to run out a very long way on floating logs or small sticks as I recall is called copying. I had a friend who was a Newf and Mike could do it over logs, sticks, small ice pans, what ever. In addition to courage and ability it looked like you needed to keep moving no matter what.

Great clip.

Cmon, you talk like this was a long time ago..........I'm sure it wasn't. On a side note the girls in the cartoon actually bare a true likeness to what I remember girls of that vintage actually looking like, haha. How things have changed!

I loved Who's who. Thanks for bringing that back!
That also reminded me of Wild America, New Wilderness, Wild Kingdom, and this safari bus driving under a red sun:

Didn't have to stay up late to watch it. Watched it happen live on the river in front of my grandparents house every spring until they put the dam in. That ended that and also ended the salmon runs.
