Default Penetration

I love watching youtube videos and often notice very poor penetration from compounds. I'm not dissing compounds, just the choice of arrows. Even at the range I often notice better penetration of arrows from my 50 lb. longbow than from some cranked up compounds.

Well the real test is to shoot the stone points into the grizzle shield of a boar hog - thats comparing apples to apples! I shot a boar a couple years ago that tipped the scale at 400+ lbs. I shot it with a 70 lb longbow and heavy purple-heart footed wood shafts tipped with 190 gr. ribrecs and I shot every arrow I had into a tennis ball sized area tight behind the shoulder. Not ONE of those arrows penatrated thru the shield - less than 3 inches of penatration. I put 2 30-30 rounds behind his ear to finish what I started. I'm not knockin trad equipment - I exclusively hunted with this bow for approx 10 yrs. Killed moose, 'bou and deer - it will do the job effectively if I do my part. But that goes for compound guys as well!!

I guess what I'm saying is don't use these 2 clips to try to prove or disprove your point! If that guy had shot that hog quartering away BEHIND the plate angling forward it would have been a different result - just like if I had done that on my hog.
