Vintage bino's, value??
I have a pair of binoculars I was asked to sell by an older chap. He bought them from Sears in 1986 and he claims they never left the house, I don't think they ever came out of the box. It doesn't appear the lense caps were ever removed. They are Tasco 8x40 323 RZ in the green rubber armour. They were imported by Optex Corp. in Toronto, and are marked 1884 Hong Kong. Anyone have a clue what their worth? Original receipt in the box has a price of $99.99

If your lucky you may be able to get what he paid for them but with the advancements in optics the past number of years they may be a tough item to sell.
Good luck

If someone paid that much for anything made by Tasco at that time....they were screwed royally. Today's value...case of beer at best. If it were me I'd find a young kid just starting out hunting and make a donation. It would help him two ways. First, any binos are better than none and would let a kid learn that binos are what you use to look around rather than a rifle scope. Second, it will show him that he needs to get a decent job to afford reasonable quality gear.

Agree, good to go to a kid and help him get started.

Just the fact that they are still in the original box and the date of manufacture, should MAYBE worth something to a collector. Ya, Tasco isn't top line but maybe there is someone who places more value on them than sticker price.
But if the old guy just needs some extra $, well then....it is what it is.

Yeah I'm sure there not worth a whole lot, thought there might be some collector value as their NIB and 30 years old.

Not much collector value in 30 year old (considered modern) binoculars especially tasco or most any other mass produced Asian made binocular. Now if they were certain military binoculars or various other examples of rare glass from the 1700's onward they could be worth a small fortune.

Not worth $30 on eBay. Whenever you see buy it now...it means a small market and difficult to sell.
