I can't figure out if it is legal for my 7 years old son to shoot gopher with is PSE mini burner set at 15lb. Some people are telling me it's still fall under the varmint hunting in the regulation book and require a 40lb min bow, other are telling me they are not. Can't figure out from what I am reading.
Persons hunting big game must use an authorized bow and an authorized arrow. An authorized bow is one that is held, drawn and released by muscular power and has a draw weight of not less than 18 kg (40 lb.).
I would think you can hunt gophers with what ever floats your boat. I don't see anything there where it restricts the length of hockey stick, size of pail, or color of baler twine either!

When my daughter was 5 I let her fling arrows out of a cheap wal mart bow. Take the kids out and enjoy. There is nothing better then spending quality time with the kids in the outdoors.
