Anyone out around Lac Sante know what the ice is like? I'd like to try for some Burbs later this week.

We went to check ice mostly. Didn't stay long, no bites. We were south side. Saw a couple of shacks on North end. There was a fellow with a few on the ice we saw on the way out.

this week is going to be just brutal on the ice, with a lot of melting happening. Was hoping to check out Badger for the first time, but very concerned about quality of ice...

Couple other lakes in the area are 4-8”. Check for yourself, and be safe!

Don't be so sure. Might be 8" in one place but only 3" 50 yards away. Some lakes still had open water in the middle only a week ago.

Ice was about 4 inches off the dam on Monday. Lots of people were out fishing the dam and it was safe

Continue to be careful out there! I checked out a shallow sw bay at Lake Newell yesterday and there was a small section of open water near the westerly end. Drove further down the bay to my intended fishing location and found 6-8" of solid ice across the entire bay. Checked the ice in multiple spots as I walked across. Fishing was good.

Just checking back in on Badger Res out in Vulcan County.....if anyone has any info. We're hoping to make the trek out there from Okotoks on Sunday, but I'd hate to go that far if it's not passable yet...

Good to hear. I would bet the north shore isn't as thick. Won't take long to thicken up.

It used to be that most years the commercial fishers would be on the ice before christmas with all their gear and 1 ton trucks so we are on par.

That is good to know, thanks.
Would it be safe to say that Crawling Valley is very similar?

Can anyone qualify or comment on CVR?

Thanks,

Both places you have to be careful all year. I have seen trucks go thru at both places with 30 inches of ice in most spots but not all. Lots of springs and gas pockets so check even more carefully this time of year as you can go from 6 inches to 1 inch in a few feet.
