Well perhaps we should get rid of fast food, cars, soda pops, etc... Using public health care to support this position is stupid. I worked in healthcare for a long time, there are far more injuries because of alcohol with ATV users then helmet use. But since most Drunk ATV users dont use a helmet they skew the statistics.

You won't be the only rebel out there iam sure, can't see how a trapper could get used to wearing a helmet. Don't have a problem with the under 18 law.

How much would it cost to attempt to educate the masses, and actually convince them helmets are worth wearing? How successful do you think that campaign would be? Would you be here complaining on how much money the government was wasting on a pointless plan to educate people on safety of ATV helmet use? Let's be honest here.

Or possibly some are more intelligent than the, "some is good, more is always better" crowd. If you aren't intelligent enough to govern yourself, you are the problem. Mankind survived a fairly long run without legislation. Now its the weak-minded that require their lives legislated from sun-up to sun-down. If people were intelligent enough to not need a nanny state, the human race wouldn't be de-volving.

How much will it cost to ineffectively implement and enforce this?

Maybe "we" could save some more tax dollars and make it law that you wear one in your car......

That will provide a good solid cheek-weld right there. Have you ever held a rifle?

Of course I have not held a real rifle! I would never leave my keyboard or moms basement to engage in such activities!

That's unfortunate; I quite enjoy riding my dual sport around while hunting and fishing without a helmet.
I guess we'll just have to add this to pile of nanny laws I ignore and break every day.

They should have constructed the helmet law the same a lifejacket laws... as long as you have a helmet attached to the ATV somewhere, you're good to go.

Likely will make money. There isn't going be be more patrols looking for this specifically. It will just be the exact same enforcement we are already paying for having the ability to ticket a new offence. Will either option (law or education) be effective; doubtful.

So a 12 year old girl can ride an 800 lb horse as hard as she can barrel racing without a helmet legally but a 50 year old man or woman will not be able to ride his or her quad down a trail bird hunting without one. Sounds about right.

I don't wear a helmet when I'm checking the cows at home or getting feed and dragging it out. It's on flat land, and worst I have to worry about is getting chased by a cow... I generally drive really slow doing that. I"m more likely to take something through the body than the head doing that... Maybe I should wear body armor... Wait... They banned that...
However, if I go on the road for longer than it takes to get to the other house on the yard (Mom doesn't like me ridding the quad over the lawn), I put on a helmet simply because of eye windburn. I can't wear goggles as I'd fog them right up in 3 minutes. Doesn't seem to matter how I treat them to keep them from fogging...

People...
it's a helmet.
Aside from helmet hair..what's the big deal.
You need PPE for the majority of the jobs out there,
Seat belts and airbags in cars.
Riding a pedal bike, motorcycle, rally cars, hockey players ...ETC. Wear helmets.
Give your unprotected melon a shake
And protect it when you need it.
Should be common sense and not something the nannies should tell us.

I just thought about this... I have a pull behind mower for my ATV. Does this mean I need to mow my lawn with a helmet on?

Most accidents are preventable. If were going to try and improve safety for all terrain vehicles why not through education and prevention? Id argue a simple course similar to what they have for Boating would be more effective in reducing injuries.
Another for prevention could be maintained trails with set limits. Also very stiff fines for driving under the influence.
By bringing in the helmet law its a cop out. Something that even a 4 year old could think up. It doesnt prevent the accident and it may or may not help depending on the mechanism of injury. It also punishes safe resposible ATV users who drive responsibly. Its a complete waste of time and just a gimmick to help retail sales in Alberta which are down since Notley took over.

I think nothing of going all day on snowmobile or ATV without a helmet, but if the grandkids are coming, YEP, helmeted all day long. Now if my ole noodle takes a whack, just let me be, I will be fine. But if something preventable happened to the kids I would have a truly hard time to live with it.
I guess it's something we all knew would come, just sad that common sense needs to be legislated.

I look forward to the day they ban all junk food, pop, bacon, beer, ect.....
I'm getting tired of my taxes going towards health care to pay for all the fat azzes and their resulting health issues that arise from them indulging in the above list. Should be common sense to avoid all these foods, but guess common sense isn't so common any more.
The libtard/leftist/socialist/nanny state movement is gaining momentum at an alarming rate here in Canuckastan. One has to look no further than here and all those in agreement with yet another nanny law
