Default Anywhere to fish yet?

Hey guys,
any ideas where a guy could cast a fly in right now that isn't frozen or running off? Anything within 2 hours of Calgary would be cool.
I may run out and get my license today but won't bother if there's nowhere to fish with a half decent chance of catching something. PM me if you have to!
Thanks in advance!!
Cheers

I've seen some pictures that were about a week old of Police Lake, and while still partially frozen, there was some open water around the bridge. We were at Beauvais about 2 weeks ago and it was still frozen with abotu 15" of ice.

Was out at the old camp channels last week. Wrote it up on my blog.

Was going to publish the article next week, but you can check it out early if you like. Nice spot, but not huge numbers of fish. But it's ice free early and doesn't get too murky in the run-off.

It's out near Canmore on Hwy 1A, directions are on the blog.

I was also up at Grassi Lakes last Monday, which is a nice walk and totally ice free right now (which is weird b/c other ponds around are still frozen - but it is spring fed, so that probably helps) and the fish are rising up there. watched a bunch of little brookies jumping. Few photos of that on the blog, too, if anyone is interested. Water is so clear you can see the fish 15 feet down. Maybe more - all the way to the bottom.

The Upper Bow around Canmore is looking decent right now, too. Not much run-off from the mountains yet, and the ice-shelves are almost all gone. Lots to do - I know people don't want to drive out just to find the river's blown or something, but to me it's worth the trip even if you don't catch anything. A bad day in the mountains is better than a good day at the office, right?

I asked this in the main fishing category already, but...

Does anybody know when they start stocking the stocked lakes & ponds? Particularly for Grotto and Sibbald?

Bergman,

Checked out the blog. Please be careful when you are quoting catch limits. In the blog you say limit of 2 trout but the regulations actually only allow a limit of 2 BROOK trout. 0 limit for all other trout species.

Please update the blog. Nice write up otherwise.

Thanks

Thanks, I appreciate that. Don't know what I was thinking. I take that stuff seriously, and am kind of hanging my head in shame right now.

As for the rest, thanks for the feedback guys! I will keep plugging away at it, trying to add more stuff as I go.
Cheers,
Eli
