Default Island Lake North of Baptiste Lake

Hello fellow outdoorspeople, some friends of ours bought a cabin on Island Lake this year and I would like to try fishing it for Walleye. There is a slot size so I assume it has a decent population. The lake also has some great structure for walleye as per the depth map. Has anyone fished this lake recently? just wondering if it is worth the effort, I never hear of anyone on the forum fishing this lake, any info on recent trips there would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Deanstr8

Default Island Lake

I grew up on this lake as a kid. Our family had one of the original cabins there.

No power or gas, it was old school. Used to get our water from the lake.

I have not been there for at least 14 years as it got way too busy with more and more cabins, and we sold our place.

We fished it a ton. There is great structure.

It "used" have a great population of jumbo whites and perch. We did well.

Never, ever, caught a walleye there though. We always went to Baptiste or Fawcett or Calling for them.

Fished it last August, did well for small pike and perch around the weed beds. The only walleye we caught that day was in the narrows between the main lake and the bay to the north. Didn't get a measurement, but I'd guess it was about 2-3 lbs. Caught on jig and minnow
