Found it was not worth it. While on trapline if on quad or snow machine or in your truck you must have pistol locked with a trigger lock and in a locked box. When your walking around pistol is to be in a certified waist holster ( no shoulder holsters ). Holster has to be out side your coat or you have to split open the side of your coat so that the pistol is not concealed at any time. I figured it was easier to just use my 22 rifle as there are less restrictions.

I agree ATC process is very complicated. However I still carry my 357 on trapline as very handy compared to rifle. Problem is we have Federal approval to carry, then F & W apply a long gun safety rule to a secure handgun in a holster.

When on a atv you can carry your handgun in holster on your hip unloaded. When in a truck it must be in a locked container with trigger lock.

For the application for wilderness carry you will have to contact thr cfo 's office to get the proper form. It was not on the website before unless things have changed

And they perfer 6inch revolver in 357 or 44
And 22 revolver for dispatch
Must be certified holster (much cover the trigger completely)
Must have holster training
And
Shooting compency training

Atc is specific to the exact serial number of the revolver you trained on, you cannot go carry anything once you get it

Have to redo all training every 2 years

CFO do everything they can to discourage ATC. The paperwork is not on data base. You need to contact CFO office and request exact paperwork for either 1) dispatch or 2) wilderness carry, as mentioned by Cody.

I was all over it till I did some research and started the process. Red tape and BS. Not worth the time and I do feel like I need a pistol on my line especially for bears around my cabins. I have a momma Grizz and 3 cubs practically living there for 2 years now

Crazy, the first form you forwarded just gets you started in the process. You will be completing a POP form signed by certified range officer for your shooting competence and a few others. Need to be interviewed by CFO to determine if they will approve you for your ATC.
