Default Ruger M77 Hawkeye

I've just picked up a Ruger Hawkeye (wood/blued) in 204 ruger and the trigger is too heavy. I'm planning on getting a timney for it, and would have no problem installing it myself. But I have also been considering having a gunsmith glass bed the action and free float the barrel. Has anyone on here done this and if so any thoughts on it?

I'm also looking for a good gunsmith in the Stettler/Red Deer area. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Hey Pat, before you dump a lot of money into that gun.....how does it feed for you? I had the exact model, very rough and would jam rounds before entering the chamber...it would crunch bullet half way back into the case.

Thanks for the replies. MS, it seems to feed alright. I've only put 20 rounds through it sighting it in, but no problems with that so far.

If your gonna farm out the bedding contact Mystic Precision in Summer land. They are excellent work for a fair price and are not backlogged. I will only ship my stuff out there as I have not had good luck finding anyone in Alberta.
