Red face Elk hunting

This year will be the first year I try elk hunting. Last year I did deer in my area and it was great fun. Just wanted to know if anyone knows if there is any population of elk in the Whitecourt, Alberta area. I don't want to go to far from home if I can and am not sure if this area will be good or not. I know there are elk in the area. I have seen them north on the highway towards Fort Assinaboine and also west and south. Anyone know the area for elk and feeling like giving me some advice??

I know there used to be alot of elk west of windfall!!! 4 years ago my brother and 3 buddies went 4 for 4 and the biggest was a 324" animal !! Got to get on them quite early as they seem to get alot of pressure!! That area has really been made quite accessible in the last few years due to oil and gas exploration!!
