Alberta NDP to get rid of Daylight. Savings?
They truly think they can do whatever the hell they want.
http://www.edmontonsun.com/2016/12/1...-put-to-a-vote
They won't even hold a referendum
Hoffman actually says, that people complain to her about losing sleep and affecting kids sleeping patterns and health and wellness.
Ok then I think we should all start complaining to her about the carbon tax.
Maybe that is the key to getting Sh*t done.
And it has to be young families.
Or are they the ones with unprecedented wealth these days and don't care about how much they spend.

If everybody in both countries abolishes DLST it would work just fine, however Saskatchewan not changing creates problems for business and its a lot more noticeable if the whole world changes and you don't.
The most noticeable is your TV schedule changes, the friends and family you normally phone at certain times need to be changed.
I was in Regina this morning at 9 AM it was still dark, I remember working construction and waiting for light to start work lots of hours wasted.

I'm no scientist, but I'm pretty sure there's the same number of hours of daylight.

So during the winter construction should start at 9 am to 6pm ?
change the hours of work instead of the time?

If you want to get rid of DST you want the sun to rise at 0404 hours in Edmonton on the 20th of Jun. Who wants sunup at that time in the morning? You guys nuts? I want to be sound asleep at that time.....not cowering from the sun lol

Yes I did.
And unlike some people I can admit that, and that it was without a doubt a mistake.

Yes
If you want to work in the light, work in the light.
Lots of places have winter hours and summer hours.
I don't think that's a stretch at all.

If there's people out there who will vote for someone based solely on gun control stance then be aware this is a far large audience.
I'm all for getting rid if dlst it's not needed in today's age.

Working in construction from 9AM to 6PM is ridiculous. However, working from 9AM to 6PM and calling it 8AM and 5PM is perfectly acceptable.
DST is an absolute waste. I grew up in the old country. I never heard a single individual complain about when they felt the sun should rise.

It is entirely inconsequential. Glad they have the time and money to mess around with these things. I can't even imagine how much money these clowns will fritter away on this meaningless "problem".
Somehow I have managed to live half my life in Saskatchewan and the other half plus in Alberta. Didn't make a bit of difference in my life DLS or not.
In Saskatchewan we worked under the sun, and when it went down we worked under lights. Same damn thing in Alberta.

One more testament to human arrogance! "We will change time!"
What I would rather see is daylight savings all the time. And why would anyone in construction or any other job have to wait for daylight? Lights have never been better. I have never worked a job that waits for the sun to come up. You just go and do it.

Why not? When going to work in sask you have to adjust.
If you're going to argue that it's ridiculous to change the hours you work to work in the light I'm going to say that I agree with you .... that's why I want to get rid of dlst

I'm in the same boat don't really care
if everybody "sprang" ahead a 1/2 hour this spring and never changed again it would be fine with me however the time change is a lot more noticeable if you don't change with the rest of the world.

I'd be all for this. Saskatchewan doesn't change their time, same as parts of BC, they seem to be doing just fine.

No complaints here at all. I've been about this for far longer than the NDP were relevant in Alberta.
I still won't vote for them however.
I prefer an evening hunt anyway.

Maybe under the NDP lights will become too expensive to operate.

Well if all we have to do is complain to the right person ... who would I see about getting things to warm up around here .Is it possible they could put some sort of tax in place that would encourage the temperature to warm up by even a degree or two?

This is the only thing I could agree with...I like the extra light after work, adds extra time to hunting season.

Yes, I'm sure that they are planning on it.
We will probably need special "light permits" based on the number of lumens we wish to cast, with the cost calibrated to the resources and energy we are using to cast said light.
Sounds legit.
