Which 6.5 mm hunting bullet are you guys using?
Hey fellas. Now that I have joined the 6.5 Creedmoor fan club and received by pin and pom poms, I am wondering what hunting bullet you guys have chosen.
Like many of you, I am mostly hunting deer, with the odd moose thrown in every few years. This year, I will be drawn for my cow moose, and possibly cow elk, so I didn't want to go with a cup and core. I decided to have my Load Development Engineer (Elk11) give 125 Partitions a whirl, largely because I always chime in to the 6mm and .25 cal crowd to use Partitions, and thankfully they shoot just fine. Really looking forward to seeing how they perform on game.
What bullet are you using in your 6.5mm hunting rifle and why?
Lets keep this to a positive discussion please.

If they group well......good luck.

I shoot the 130 Berger Hunting out of my 6.5X47 at 2950 fps. In my second X47 I shoot the 130 AccuBond at 2850 fps. Out of my 6.5 Sherman it's 140 Berger or 142 and 150 gr Matrix at 3200 to 3339 fps. For what you are wanting to do and moose and elk in the mix I would see if your gun likes the 130 Accubond. It has worked well on deer for me, but so has the Berger.

130 Accubond was my next choice if the Partitions didn't shoot well.

6.5
I use the 140 Berger in my 6.5x284 norma . very accurate and have taken several deer and one elk with it. Deer go down very quick, The elk was at 350 and i waited for the broadside lung shot he ran about 75 yds. Performance was good in all my experiences with the berger. Energy was expended inside the animals.

143gr eldx has worked fantastic out of my 6.5-284 on 4 deer, 3moose, and an elk so far. Shots ranged for 80-350yds.

I'd look at the 127gr LRX.
Ive pushed 120gr TTSXs to 2900fps ib my friends Creedmore and its doing very well. Id shoot moose and elk with it.

while I have not tried the 6.5 CM yet however I was able to achieve superb accuracy in my 6.5 Swede using 140 grain Accubonds. Partitions were "ok" but still require some tweaking.

Very good success with 140 gr partitions in 6.5x55 for deer. Working on some 155 gr lapua mega, looks promising

What is the ROT 1-9 ? I have a Win 70 FWT that is 1-8 and 156gr Sako makes one hole while 160gr Hornady shows signs of tipping with poor accuracy. I load either with 42gr of N204 or IMR4350 and the above heavy bullets. Will penetrate 2 moose and a fire hydrant. You can eat right up to the bullet hole.Great bullets in the military Swedes.

6.5 creedmoor
The hornady 143gr eldx bullet with 39.6 grs of h4350 powder, has so far worked well on the range and in the field. One thing noticeable is the violent reaction of a 6inx 8in gong at 200m 300m compared to some other bullets.Although I got a buck at over 300m this year, that was rare,he dropped like a rag doll and didnt move. The does likewise dropped in there tracks and didnt move, more point blank less than 100m,On the range 100m 5 shots can for the most part go within one in, for sure the rifle can shoot better.
