Unfortunately we have a government that likes to use the expansion of socialism to enlarge their voter base at the expense of those on other side of the political spectrum.

Socialism, how it is being used today, has become a crutch and excuse for many that have no incentive to improve themselves by their own hard work. Granted that we need a certain level of socialism....but that level should be set at what improves all members of that societies lives while helping those that truly need assistance to get onto their own feet. The current system does nothing good for those that abuse the use of it and those that are burdened with paying for it.

The same goes for anything the government gets its fingers into.....it should never touch things like business bailouts and loans, NHL level hockey arena building and funding arts. The other area that this govt has stuck its nose into is social engineering, in the form of all the laws and changes for the appeasement of a small minority...this whole gender thing, the promotion and subsidy of women into truck-driving and trades, the gay-straight alliance in schools push. These are ideology driven attempts to restructure and change society into the fairytale version of their political vision of what the future should be versus what it must be or naturally would become.

These are not essential to the welfare of society....they are a blatant expansion of the mandate of govt into things they have no place in. Add in the incompetence of govt with the political motivations and we get a expensive experiment that wastes valuable resources.....resources that could have been used wisely and with future benefits for all.

Socialism, welfare, etc. Call it what you will, but it's the death of every civilization that ever existed. The good will of some is always taken advantage of and the greed of bureaucrats, politicians (and their friends) and those that are too lazy to earn their keep is seldom sated. What starts out as a small, temporary tax soon becomes an accepted slush fund encompassing nearly half of an honest man's labour.

I'm all for helping people who truly need help, but their numbers are very small compared to the lineup of people at the trough. The people that think they are entitled to the fruits of my labour are truly some of the most disgusting and greedy people in the country. They are all, almost without exception pathetic, ungrateful pigs at the trough.

And who is rewarded for pilfering the wealth of the working man? The politician and bureaucrat. Not the working man himself.

Enjoy the decline.

Have to agree.

The working man/woman has 1-2 kids because that is all they can reasonably/responsibly afford. The government takes half their pay check away to give to the social welfare man/woman who does nothing but has 4-10 kids. The working gene is getting breed out for generations of lazy no good parasites. Eventually the parasites wont have any more workers to suck the blood from though. Plague and pestilence isn't always a bad thing...

If everyone stops breeding and using product that cannot be derived from local knowledge! Maybe we can survive?

Socialist doesn't know nothing about economy, if you are really interested in government controlling everything, read some history about China and Soviet Union. It might change your mind.

Uh-oh we're playing "what if" now. OK what if I was bankrupted by a debilitating disease. Maybe because I am a giver and not a taker my community or family helps me out. What if I had insurance. What if I have to take fiscal responsibility for my health I treat my body better? What if I go bankrupt from medical expenses and start over? What percentage of hard working Americans are bankrupted by medical expenses? I'll take my chances. What if I won a lottery. What if my crap was purple and smelled like rainbow sherbert? WHAT IF!?!?!?!!!

Socialism is actually 2 days older than Tommy.

As for your second comment, for argument sake I will agree with you. Lets push the socialism back to a 50-50 mix. There is about 2% capitalism left in Canada.

With the right marketing, it could be a potential income opportunity.

The only thing I learned from your link is that you think Michael Moore is an honest and critical thinker. Good on you. Thank you for providing the decline.
