Default Roar

Ok... not sure what this is, but it is the second time this has happened to me while solo bow hunting in the foothills.

I hear what I describe as a loud roar... followed up by thrashing of trees. Does anyone know what this is? I haven’t gone into investigate cause whatever it is, it sounds right ****ed off.

My first thought was Bigfoot obviously... but maybe bull moose? This is in kananaskis south west of Calgary

This happened to me several years ago while I was making a cow moose call hoping to draw in a bull. A big roar came out of the swamp that I was sitting on the edge of. Scared the crap out of me, I had no idea what it was. I slowly, quietly walked out of that area until I found another skid trail to walk down.
When I got back to town at the end of the day, I went to see an old trapper I knew, telling him about the roar. He said that when I cow called, a cow moose that was with a bull answered me warning me off. The roar was her warning.

Default Moose.

Cow moose alarm bark got the bull to start thrashing bush thinking it’s competition.
