Default First buck

Well here’s the first kids deer, 3 more brothers to go. I’m sure there won’t be any competition to beat this one ?
We’ve been watching this buck for a while now and last night he was out with another 4x.
I set up the spotter and after confirming he was interested, we set out. A short sneak, staying behind cover, put us in position for a 250 yard shot.
We had to wait for the buck to stop moving and stand broadside, and when he did my oldest made a beauty, slightly quartering shot. The buck was hit hard but still on his feet so I told him to take him again and he put a second round a few inches from the first.
He piled up after a short 30-40 yard run and it was all over, so I guess we are on to the elk now.
Rifle was a Sako .243 topped with a Bushnell elite 6500 and Barnes vortex ammo with 80 gr ttsx. Bullets both exited and did plenty of damage on the way through.

Now that is what its all about. Congrats to the new hunter on his first deer. Good on you dad for getting your kids out and enjoying the great outdoors. Hoping my son has the same luck as yours in a couple years when he gets out for his first season.
Look forward to the next few years when your other kids get their first deer as well.

Cheers,
SS

Excellent buck and great pics. The pic with all of your boys in it is priceless. If he doesn't get a mount done (since it's his first buck) that picture needs to be framed and mounted.
