Default Are there any downsides to doing a dpf delete?

I'm from GP. On my way to Hinton my truck went into limp mode and had to be towed aND is now stuck in Hinton. I want to get rid of that dpf but was wondering if there were any cons to doing this?
Does anybody do the deletes in Hinton?

What truck do you have? Only negatives really are the smell when warming up and they take a lot longer to warm up after the egr is removed/turned off.

Don’t get any “hot tunes” put on it after deleting and there is no downside unless Alberta begins emission testing diesels, in which case you would have to put the DPF back on.

Without the DPF, the truck exhaust will also be a fair bit louder, so be forewarned on that.

Other than that, it’s the best possible thing you can do for that truck. Look into doing an EGR delete while you’re at it.

Not sure on diesel shops in Hinton, sorry. Your best bet is call around on Tuesday.

Got the same year d'max. Did a EFI Live delete, better flowing exhaust and added 60-70 hp about 120,000km ago. No regrets

I've had two d'max trucks done and did my cummins myself. No regrets so far. Make sure you keep the stuff they take off. Good scrap value on those, they like to forget to send them.

I deleted one for my aunt, 08 f350 dually.
Went from about 4.5mpg pulling a trailer, to 18.

So, basically turned it from a lawn ornament that was too expensive to drive... into a useable vehicle.
Can't see any downside there!

Maybe you could do it for the OP at a reasonable price as you are not that far away

Yeah, I wouldn't mind doing that, but would have to fit my schedule, I don't get home much lately, working in fort Nelson since beginning of Feb.
Got home for a couple week in April, and m8ght be going home this weekend.

I wonder if that dpf was permanently plugged or partially. Ford had a real screwy set up at that time for regen. good riddance I am sure!

I have a bigger problem with EGR than I do with DPF , in principle. I hate the idea of the intake getting clogged up with soot over time.

Is it ****ible to use a tuner to disable EGR in a 2013 duramax?

I agree. Whoever thought it was a good idea to run all that soot back through your engine should be lynched. I'm going to do my 2012 cummins soon

EGR was the first stage in emissions control, and made little to no sense... but it worked slightly to reduce particulate matter. And yes it can be deleted fairly easily.

Best results we have had from our fleet is to delete SCR,DPF, and EGR where applicable, then get a custom tune and leave everything else pretty much stock. Trucks run cleaner and more efficient. We are not really looking for power, fuel mileage is the key factor for us.

Yes you can delete the DPF and not the EGR, you have to have a tuner that will do it thought. you can also unplug the EGR and not remove it. if you are going to go with removing the DPf then you might as well as do the EGR at the same time.

you can also just have a tuner on your truck and keep the EGR and the DPF on the truck. this will give you a little extra power and claimed MPG.
