Cheapest place to buy aluminum tubing?
Pixelshooter and I are looking for 1" aluminum square tubing for a waterfowl hunting project. Any suggestions on the cheapest/best place to buy this stuff in Edmonton area? Thanks fellas.

Depends on how much you need.
ASA Alloys and Ryerson Metals would be the two biggest suppliers of Aluminum in Edmonton but you may not be buying enough for them to sell it to you. Metal Supermarkets is probably easiest to get what you're looking for but they're certainly not the cheapest.
You may be best to call a couple of fabricators and try and buy it from them. Smaller guys will usually just cut what you want out of their stock and make a little money on it.
What part of the city is preferable? I can point you towards some fab shops that should have this.

If I remember correctly we used to buy it from Asa Alloys but I think they had a minimum of $500 per order. You could try Metalheadz in Nisku or Metal Supermarket ( aka Metal Superthieves).
What wall thickness and length are you looking for? I may still have a small piece in my garage.

I like to use aluminum and usually wait for Princess Auto to have a sale on their small inventory of aluminum. Another source can be scrap metal places but some don't necessarily let you go wandering around. Metal "superthieves" my last resort.

Just a shout out for the metal supermarket on Edmonton Southside. The guys working the front counter are awesome, always pleasant, attentive and helpful. Never had a bad experience there, even if they are a bit more costly I purchase all my hobby metal from them

Metal supermarket is twice what as much as a place I know. I'll call you Keith....
I bought some 1 inch at supermarket and then at another place and it was almost 2 times as much. I'll never hit metal supermarket again.

If you're looking to weld it, get 6061, otherwise 6063 unless more strength doesn't really matter.

Princess auto has 1” square tube far cheaper than most-coated thus more trouble to weld.

I'd be second in line if you want to get rid of it?

I live in the NW of Calgary, I am headed on holidays tuesday for a while but I would have no issue leaving this stuff in the back yard. It is extruded u channel with a 3/8" "nut/bolt" channel on the bottom of the U. They are 10' setions. I have used it for motor mounts, battery mounts, accessory mounts in my jet boat.
I may have close 80' and really only want to keep 2 lengths
SNS2 has first dibs
Fatboyz next
Cementbench last
